This is for you....

So the adventure begins. This Friday November 20th I am beginning my 3 day, 60 mile walk. I will be camping out Friday-Sunday and walking each morning until I finish 20 miles. It’s not going to be easy, but then again nothing ever is. This walk is for everyone I know and love who has battled cancer. Not just breast cancer, any type of cancer. I admire you. Anyone that has been through cancer or helped a family member through cancer shares the same strength, sprit and power. So this is for you.
This walk is for my grandma Lea Ray who is a breast cancer survivor. Someone who has all the perseverance of the world within her, and whom I look up to. She has overcome so many obstacles and is such an amazing, beautiful person. This walk is for Maricela Lopez, my best friend’s mom and my second mom, someone I have known since I was 12. A woman who has raised three beautiful kids on her own. Someone who has worked days, gone to school at night and battled cancer on the weekends, she is amazing and this walk is for her. This walk is for Allyson, a woman my family met right after she had won her battle with cancer. Allyson has a new lease on life and the spirit and optimism of someone who knows how amazing her life truly is. You rock Ally. This walk is for Judy Santacruz, a good friend’s mom who very recently won her battle with breast cancer. I’ve watched Stephanie go through the emotions of having her mom diagnosed with this life threatening illness. They are strong and they have made it. This walk is for everyone that has had to fight for their life; and everyone that has realized just how very strong they are. But above all, this walk is for my late grandmother Laura Lee Parks, she was my everything. She won her fight against breast cancer but passed away last Christmas. She is the strongest person I have ever met. She helped raise me and it is because of her that I am who I am today. She never drove a car; she walked everywhere she needed to go her entire life. She raised four kids and then continued to help with her grandchildren. She walked me to school, every single day that I lived with her. When I complained about walking 3 miles to the grocery store she encouraged me. When we needed to get school supplies, we walked. When I needed to go to the dentist, we walked. We walked together everywhere, everyday. We walked when it rained and when the sun was beating down on us. So Grandma, this walk is for you. Let this walk represent all of the miles you walked for others. I am now walking 60 miles in 3 days for you. I love you.
